Blue Comet football made history on Friday in a dominating 27-0 victory over the Pittsburg Purple Dragons.
The victory marked the first time Chanute had shut out Pittsburg since 1963 and the first time ever that Chanute beat Pittsburg three times in a row in football.
Led by junior Quentin Harding’s 131 yards rushing and two touchdowns, the Blue Comets methodically pulled away from Pittsburg, scoring once each quarter.
The strong defensive effort was highlighted by junior Cade Small’s three sacks.
Chanute (2-0) plays at Tonganoxie (1-1) on Friday.

The Blue Comets have claimed back to back victories with a 2-1 win Tuesday night against the Pittsburg Purple Dragons.
Pittsburg threw the first punch of the game, scoring a goal in the beginning of the first half.
Junior Eli Uhner responded by opening the second half with a goal for the Comets, which was quickly followed with a penalty kick goal by senior Carter Fosha.
The final 20 minutes of the game was scoreless for both teams, ultimately handing the Blue Comets the win.
With the win, the Comets move to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the SEK. They are set to play Parsons (0-2, 0-2 SEK) on Thursday at home.
