Chanute Blue Comets 3-0
The Blue Comets are off to an amazing 3-0 start to the season after an impressive win over the McPherson Bullpups. Chanute trailed 7-0 early, before scoring 27 straight points in a 27-14 victory. The Comets are looking to keep the momentum going this week against a tough Nemaha Central Thunder team. If these Blue Comets can keep looking this good they have a deep playoff run in their future.
Fort Scott Tigers 3-0
These Fort Scott Tigers have looked impressive against some opponents that leave some things to be desired for sure. This week they’re going against a very strong Pittsburg Purple Dragons team so we get to really see what they’re made of. This week will require a lot of preparation, and we will have to see if the Tigers bring it after sweeping an overmatched Independence team under the rug.
Field Kindley Golden Tornado 1-2
That’s what I’m talking about FKHS. Following a pair of losses to open the season, the Golden Tornado knocked off 5A Emporia 30-20 for their first win. I can pretty confidently say I see another win against rival Independence this week, allowing the Tornado to get back to .500.
Labette County Grizzlies 1-2
Honestly, this isn’t a terrible team. They have only won one game, but they won that game by 28. There’s definitely something with this Grizzlies team that could carry them to a good season, they just have to find it. They have yet another tough opponent in the Wellington Crusaders this week, but if they find that spark to give them the jump they might just walk out of that game .500.
Independence Bulldogs 0-3
If your defense allows 47 points per game, you’ve got to change something fast. The offense this season has only put a total of 50 points on the board. They started off their season with some of the hardest teams they’ll face, and this week is going to be the easiest opponent they see in the next several weeks.
