Junior Easton Colborn’s second-place finish, along with four other medalists, propelled the Blue Comets boys’ cross country team to a first-place finish with 39 points at the Anderson County meet on Sept. 5.
Colborn’s time of 17:36 placed him just ahead of junior Jaron Powers, who finished just behind in third place with a time of 17:39.
Sophomore Tucker Applegate followed in sixth at 18:04, while Tyler Rowden (13th, 19:03) and Mason Greve (28th, 20:30) also earned medals. Joshua Schoenhofer rounded out the Blue Comets’ varsity lineup with a time of 22:07, placing 45th.
In the varsity girls’ 5k, senior Macie Moore led the team with a 15th-place finish, clocking in at 23:31 to earn a medal. Senior Violet Stich also medaled, finishing 28th with a time of 26:21. Junior Jarynn Hockett placed 34th with a time of 28:46.
In the girls’ beginner 2-mile race, junior Kyli Baylor completed the course in 24:41, finishing 24th.
